The Nikon D700 – I want it and I want it now
British Journal of Photography

This one is definitely going on my wishlist. Currently using a d40x but this would make a great step up.
From the BJP article:
‘Like for the D300, the D700 incorporates a dust reduction system that uses varying high frequency vibrations,’ says James Banfield of Nikon’s professional support and training team. ‘The only trade-off for that technology is that it only offers 95%-frame coverage.’
The d40x doesn’t have a dust reduction system but it’s not a big deal to clean the images up in Lightroom or Photoshop. My camera currently has two bits of dust on it, one more and I’ll take it in to be cleaned – certainly not risking a DIY job on it. For this not to be an issue would be good though.
More:
Similar to the D3, the new model is fitted with a 51-point autofocus system system driven by a Multi-cam 3500FX sensor module. It includes 15 cross-type sensors located in the centre, for easy detection with any Nikkor lens of f/5.6 or faster. Autofocus detection is from -1 to +19 EV.0
This is impressive by any reckoning.
The price 2,000 pound sterling (body only). A big step up from the d40x but not the most expensive camera on the market by any means.
The article also carries brief mention of the SB 800 Flash replacement, the SB 900 – sounds good, probably worh an upgrade from an SB 600 but whether it is a huge improvement on the SB 800 is a matter for debate.
