Not for Twitter purists
Rebel Against Twitter Rules: Do What Works for You!
We Tweeple are overly fascinated with Twitter…not that Twitter isn’t a good online marketing tool, it is. But we tend to talk about it like there are clearly defined rules for its use and that there is only one effective brand building strategy. There are multiple ways to use Twitter, at least as many ways as there are micro-cultures on this micro-blog.
This is the opening graf of an excellent post. The author thinks that there are different ways of using twitter and all methods are legitimate. For what it is worth I agree wholeheartedly as users can effectively blackout those parts and communities that do not appeal or that upset their particular brand of ethics.
Here is one catagory, probably the one the purist would like best.
The post then outlines some of the user types. I suspect that most of use fall somewhere between two or three of them;Traditional Twitter: This user builds out a solid profile, consciously searches out like-minded people, and is a somewhat finicky follower. Each tweet is informative, meaningful or funny. This user spends time connecting via online or in person tweet ups and reaches out through genuine responses. This person has no idea when someone stops following…nor do they care.
Just about the only thing that makes me a little PO’d is false advertizing, where someone says something along the lines great article on such and such and then links to a pitch page. Link to a pitch page by all means but don’t get me there under false pretenses.
Other than that as long as a person is honest I don’t care – anyway, enough of this key bashing – got to pimp this post on Twitter.
