Advertising on G2 -

I’ve made an executive decision. It is way past time that my blog, G2, developed a sense of responsibility and started paying it’s way. I am not an unreasonable blog parent and only require that it supports itself, i.e. covers it’s own hosting, registration and other assorted costs.

Well, I had a choice, either put up a donation button, which everyone would ignore anyway, or have advertising. I figured that this way you get something useful and my blog gets to keep it’s self respect. A win win solution

The advertising will be minimally invasive, which is why I’ve decided to go with Amazon. Not the most lucrative but it does allow for a lot of control. There is a shop which can be easily avoided if desired – it is embedded into one page of this website. Of course I’d be really happy if some readers didn’t avoid it! Here it is, a little rough around the edges but it works.

I will probably put some very relevant ads on the more popular posts and some in the sidebar. Not 100% sure exactly how this is going to take shape and there will probably be much experimentation over the next couple of months. If anyone has any suggestions or feels that the site is suffering please let me know. There will be no change in the type of content on this site and I will never give false praise just to make a couple of bucks – promise!
