What’s in a Name?
Yesterday, I wrote an opinion piece for another blog and I came up against an unexpected problem:
Throughout history their have been political groups and parties and factions within those larger bodies. These factions, as far as I can tell, have always had a name that wasn’t or couldn’t be interpreted as a pejorative, in short a name that was bland enough to use in polite company. This doesn’t actually apply with regard to the Teabaggers – no suitable name has yet been put forward.
I am not setting up a punchline here, I am being serious. This blog is my home, here I can belch, fart, put my feet on the furniture, generally kick back and not worry to much about what the neighbors will think. In this specific case that means using terms like Teabagger, bagger, right wing nut jobs, wingnuts, birthers, Palinites 9/12ers and some others with abandon or at least without to much agonizing.
No doubt the, umm.. lets go with Palinites this time, would like to be called something along the lines of Tea Party Patriots, Constitutional Freedom Fighters or American Family and Freedom Loving Defenders of our Heritage or something else equally heroic sounding. Sorry but no can do. You are neither heroic, fighting for freedom, any more American than Bernie Sanders, Hispanics or Black people and your idea of patriotism is extremely messed up.So that is not going to happen.
A quick aside. In case anyone thinks that I am being unfair by lumping all these subsets together, do some crosstabs on recent polling and you will find that there is an extremely high correlation between these various groups. Someone who supports Palin will watch Beck on Fox News, believe that Obama is Kenyan (racist) and will attend Tea Party rallies. The overlap among this group is almost complete.
Well, none of this solves the problem we still need a polite name for the 9/12ers. I would welcome suggestions from either side as I have more articles that need writing in venues other than this one.
(Just in case anyone is interested I cannot reproduce the article alluded too at the beginning of this piece here by agreement but I will link to it as soon as it goes live which should be sometime within the next day or so).

Judge Land and now judge Carter, smack down the crazies (case dismissed), poor little Birthers.
Not even “Fake News” Bill O’Reilly believes the crazies, how funny.

To all the birthers in La, La Land, it is on you to prove to all of us that your assertion is true (TOUGH WHEN YOU KEEP LOSING CASES), if there are people who were there and support your position then show us the video (everyone has a price), either put up or frankly shut-up. I heard Orly Taitz, is selling a tape (I think it’s called “Money, Lies and Video tape”). She is from Orange County, CA, now I know what the mean when they say “behind the Orange Curtain”, when they talk about Orange County, the captial of Conspiracy Theories. You know Obama has a passport, he travel abroad before he was a Senator, but I guess they were in on it.
In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”.
I heard that she now wants to investigate the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC). She wants to re-establish a family values party.
I can only hope that Taitz will resist the state collectors that will be coming to collect the $20K.
