Fast Browser Search Removal Firefox

Fastbrowsersearch Malware Removal

Sometimes the easiest solution is the best. I’d hunted around off and on for weeks to find a way of getting rid of the Fastbrowsersearch malware that was forcing my Firefox browser to default to a page with loads of ads above the legitimate Google search that I wanted. It also killed the function that pointed the browser to the top site in Google for any given search term entered in the address bar.

Anyway, here is the solution

Use the simple steps to remove the fast browser search…

(1) Check for the unistall program in folder C:\Program Files\FBrowser
(2) Type ‘about:config’ in firefox address bar and filter contents with keyword ‘fast’
(3) right click on each value instance found and select to ‘reset’
(4) Close and restart your browser, hopefully its gone.

Dead easy, I skipped number 1. Number 2 will throw up a scary warning message ignore.

Thank you to whoever came up with this.

Love the way that some web sites define fastbrowsersearch as “borderline malware” – there is nothing borderline about it, it not only takes the user to a page that is not requested it actively stops the user from resetting their own browser settings. There is a special place in hell for people who use tactics like this to boost their advertising revenue.
