Editor and Publisher Shutting up Shop
This is a sad day. Editor and Publisher was a great read and a great source.
Here is a portion ofthe letter from Greg Farrar making the announcement:
Today, we announced that Nielsen Business Media has reached an agreement with e5 Global Media Holdings, LLC, a new company formed jointly by Pluribus Capital Management and Guggenheim Partners, for the sale of eight brands in the Media and Entertainment Group, including Adweek, Brandweek, Mediaweek, The Clio Awards, Backstage, Billboard, Film Journal International and The Hollywood Reporter. e5 Global Media Holdings has also agreed to acquire our Film Expo business, which includes the ShoWest, ShowEast, Cinema Expo International and CineAsia trade shows.
In addition, we’ve made the decision to cease operations for Editor & Publisher and Kirkus Reviews.
Pity that Farrar could manage no more than this one mention in the entire letter. Editor and Publisher does not even merit a whole sentence to itself apparently.
I would have expected a little more from the left side of the blogoshpere to be honest. This is the best that TPM could manage three boiler plate sentences that must have taken all of about two minutes to rattle off. That was more than most managed though.
I am not sure if the E and P is in denial but there is no mention of this story on their web site . This was posted about 5 hours ago:

NEW YORK There’s a new Editor & Publisher feed on Twitter. Plus: Several weeks ago, E&P Editor Greg Mitchell started tweeting and now has well over 5000 Twitter followers. He was just named one of the top journalists on Twitter by new media guru Jay Rosen, and as a leading “big media” journalist who “gets” social media by Mashable. Senior Editors Joe Strupp and Jennifer Saba are also tweeting. From all you can get hot scoops before they appear on our site and commentary and links you won’t find anyplace else.
Odd.
Talking of Twitter, the best place for any further info is probably via the person who was always the face of E and P, to me at any rate, Greg Mitchell
