What is Dick Cheney’s Real Game?

Question: Why is Dick Cheney, along with his family and friends running a concerted and obviously organized capaign to discredit the Obama administration?

Answer: To keep Dick out of prison.

Dick Cheney, his family and inner circle with an assist from Fox News are running a campaign of lies regarding the Obama administration and national security. They are basically saying that Obama is asleep at the switch, that he is paving the way for another devastating attack on the USA.

They are doing this despite the fact that never in US history has an ex POTUS or VPOTUS called out he current POTUS on anything within the first year of the new administration’s term.

They are lying. These are not he said she said lies, the type of lie where passionate opinion may supercede fact on occaision. These are gold plates easily and instantly provable lies.

On the surface this doesn’t really add up, we have an ex VPOTUS who is shredding any possibility of being considered a statesman or a great American, who is making sure his reputation ends up in the toilet. Previously disgraced officials stayed very quiet, let a couple of decades pass then quietly tried to salvage their reputations. The actions of Cheney and his followers will insure that the Cheney family name will be at best a punchline for a joke and at worst a study in hubris, arrogance and everything that is bad and out of control in national leadership.

The Cheneys and co have made a decision, they are trading any historical respect for the Cheney name for a strategy that will probably succeed in keeping Dick out of prison. This strategy is two pronged:

Prong one consists of persuading Americans that the Obama administration, specifically Obama is weak and not engaged thereby making uncle Dick look very engaged and ultimately caring for the US even if he did have to cross a few lines and sanction some legally suspect actions. Of course any terrorist attack going forward helps this part of the Cheney plan no end.

Prong two is, in my opinion the critical one and the one that the Cheneys expect to get the job done. This consists of rubbishing Obama at every possible opportunity as this will make any move to prosecute Dick appear to be an act of retribution, of hubris on Obama’s part. The beauty of this from the Cheney camp’s perspective is that it doesn’t matter whether the endless stream of accusations have any basis in fact or not. The more volume and noise they can generate the more anything the Obama administration does will appear to be retaliatory in nature.

I get the impression that the first part of this strategy, the preparing the ground part is a commonly held view but I haven’t seen the second part, the boxing in of the current administration expressed anywhere yet.

A connected factor is the Cheney megaphone, it is no accident that Liz and Lynn are fully engaged and that Cheney has established a direct line to Politico and of course there is always Fox News and talk radio. It could be argued that no person in American history have had so many media outlets prepared to do his bidding without question or opposition but that is something that I want to examine, in depth, at some point in the future. suffice to say that a very large number of people across various professions will not rock the Cheney applecart. Especially in Washington.
