GOP – out of touch with decency

Privately, GOP sources acknowledge that they failed to anticipate the political consequences of a “no” vote on the amendment.

and what amendment was this, some minor bit of housekeeping? Nope, it was the Franken amendment, the one that would have made it possible to prosecute government contractors for rape and was prompted by the gang rape of a KBR employee.

More on the lack of sensitivity and common decency from the anti-empathy party:

Teabaggers,Washington DC, Fort Hood and Empathy

Yesterday the idiot Teabaggers marched on Washington or rather arrived by the paid busload. I know nothing about what the morons got up to and I really cannot be bothered to read up on it. Bachman and her ilk probably spewed hatred, bile and idiocy, Fox News probably bumped up the attendance by a few tens of thousands and the so called liberal media probably continued to treat these thugs and lowlifes as the right wing equivalent of the countries, by and large, thoughtful and educated center left.

There was one huge banner on display at yesterday’s event that went way beyond what should be acceptable in any society. We’ve known for some time that the Teabagger’s really do not have the empathy or compassion gene. If something bad happens to a non-bagger that is fine by them and if it happens to a perceived enemy it is to be celebrated.

The sign reads “National Socialist Health Care: Dachau, Germany – 1945” and depicts a pile of emaciated bodies from that concentration camp. I thought that the imagery of hundreds of bodies being bulldozed into mass graves was one etched onto our collective souls, that these images were never to be trivialized.

The frightening thing about the Teabaggers? thoughts like these probably don’t even enter their heads and if they did the reaction would be “So what?”

Another example of this lack of empathy occurred yesterday, after the tragic Fort Hood shooting yesterday many of the knuckle draggers had no thought for the lives lost, the families and communities who will never fully recover, they just couldn’t hide their delight that the shooter had an Arab name.

The more the crazies gain prominence the more I realize that this is not about right left or Democrat Republican. It all comes down to the fact that some of us can put ourselves in the position of another human being and that helps us define who we are as individuals. The Teabaggers, for whatever reason, cannot do this. I almost feel pity for them, almost.
