Torture is not a Gray Area

Excellent piece by Andrew Sullivan that successfully removes the artificial nuance that various players have tried to attach to Gitmo. Sullivan rightly points out that these waters are not muddy, that torture was conducted in your name. That is torture, and again torture and once more for good measure TORTURE!!! not enhanced interrogation or enthusiastic questioning or playful bullying but torture.

Torture- Why a pass for the medical profession?

One of the more ridiculous defenses that has been forwarded regarding torture by representatives of the United States ergo representatives of all citizens of the United States is interrogation cannot be torture as long as a member of the medical profession is present. The argument goes on to state that the presence of a medic provides reassurance for the victim.

I am not going to even attempt to address the stupidity of that argument, to address it would be to give it credence that it does not warrant. I am more interested in knowing who these medical personnel are and how to facilitate their removal from the medical profession as quickly as possible. Two main reasons why these people need exposing:

Torture with Lego

This is a both unusual and, effective way to make a point:

 Torture with Lego

Flickr user Legofesto (who prefers to remain anonymous) was fed up with news outlets refusing to publish images depicting torture due to their graphic nature. So he recreated the images and first-hand accounts using Legos to protest what he saw as irresponsible censorship.
