GOP – Obstructionism is Fun

This is a very short post just to note a disgraceful comment by everyone’s favorite paid lackey, Jim Inhofe. In all fairness he was claimed to be quoting his fellow Republicans.

 GOP Obstructionism is Fun

This is his response to the news that the Republicans are going to stop obstructing the healthcare reform bill.

“I can assure you the vast majority of the (Republican) conference was on my side saying we’ve had all the fun we’re going to have” debating the bill, Inhofe said.

So, this was all about fun for the GOP and not the millions who know that the next serious illness could put them on the streets. Way to go morons.

Pharma price hike Well here’s a surpr…

Pharma price hike

Well here’s a surprise, a major piece of legislation in the pipeline, health care reform, that is likely to cause the drug companies to have to take a small cut in profits, so what do they do? This is what they do, they hike prices to raise the floor as much as possible to offset any legislative curb on future price increases. This is after a game that the drug cartels have played before.

They have raised prices over 8% in the last year, pretty impressive when the retail consumer index has fallen by over a percentage point.

Unfortunately, while they can buy congress critters on both sides of the aisle not much is likely to change.

I get the impression that Pharma are either on the verge of or have actually withdrawn their support for the House bill which is absolutely fine by me. I agree with those that say that if the drug and insurance companies like the legislation it will be very bad legislation for the rest of us.

60 plus Association – Pharma Astroturf

Only reason for even mention this is that the so called 60 plus association have started running ads targeting moderate congress critters with the intention of stopping health care reform. They are not who they claim to be i.e. an alternative to the AARP but rather a front group for big pharma. They have zero membership and are funded solely by pharma. Read more…

The American Catholic Church and Health …

The American Catholic Church and Health Care

Whether we like it or not we may have to take on the American Catholic Church to get good health care reform. They have stuck themselves into this debate with a a vengeance, spotting the likely fissure between the proper Democrats and the opportunistic Blue Dogs and Conservadems.

These so called Christians are more than happy to kill this bill, which would save literally thousands of lives every year, if they don’t get to harden the abortion law considerably.

I do not remember the Catholic clergy standing for election among the general population therefore they should have zero say in this.

Also, it would be good to see the Liberal Christians make a whole lot of noise regarding this.

A small but important aside: watch out for the MSNBC white guy club to pound this issue, led by Mr Cognitive Dissonance, Chris Matthews.
