Teabaggers in Denial

Excellent post that sums up the dynamics of the relationship between the teabaggers and the corporations and the corporations real friends.

The author, Cheryl Cook, alludes to the idea that the most amazing part of the story is that the baggers are in complete denial about the real dynamics involved.

Why isn’t the Tea Party Patriots movement outraged over the health insurance industry whose largest top 10 publicly traded companies had profits that collectively rose 428 percent between 2000 and 2007? How much do you pay for health insurance?

Why isn’t the Tea Party indignant over the banking industry charging them skyrocketing interest on their credit cards? The bailed-out banks continue to pay bonuses and fund stockholders. Sure, they advertise those wonderful low-interest mortgage rates; but don’t actually back it up with loans to the common man that would help stimulate the economy.

The powerbrokers toss something to them, via Fox News, Limbaugh or other part of the Right wing noise machine. It could be anti Obama, climate change denial, demonization Saul Alinsky, anything. It doesn’t matter because within a week the baggers will all be discussing it, tweeting it, blogging it and spouting it as if it has been on their minds since the day they were born.

The last graf is very telling and the author is 100% spot on – these people are not patriots. The first duty of any patriot is to think for him or herself. Without that all you have is mindless, blind nationalism.

I have seen depictions of our president as an African witch doctor, a black-faced minstrel and a monkey. I have heard him called a liar by a member of the House of Representatives. I have seen statesmen attempting to hold Town Hall Meetings on the health care bill being heckled, shouted down, and silenced by Tea Party members. These are not patriots.

Limbaugh a Death Ray and Orly Taitz

It’s late and I’m tired but this is just too good to pass up.

Did you know that Limbaugh’s chest pains were caused by a neuro magnetic device. Of course the article rambling rant was framed with a question mark as in was Limbaugh’s Pain Caused by a Neuro Magnetic Device.

Apparently this was sent to Ms Tait from someone she calls Maria. And of course it must be true and require no verification because no one would lie to the great Orly. Or, of course, she could just be making shit up.

41% of Americans like the Teabag Party

This is just too depressing for words. A quick note for non Americans: All joking aside, if the Teabaggers were operating in Europe they would, quite rightly, be labelled a facist organization. This means that close to half the people in the USA either don’t have a problem with fascism (albeit fairly soft) or are so clueless that they either don’t know what fascism is or they approve of it.

41% of Americans like the Teabag Party

More than four in 10, 41%, of respondents said they had a very or somewhat favorable view of the Tea Party movement, while 24% said they had a somewhat or very negative view of the group. The Tea Party movement gained notoriety over the summer following a series of protests in Washington, D.C. and other cities over government spending and other U.S. economic policies.

Teabaggers to Stage Die-In

looks like the fox News Channel schedule is set for tomorrow – expect lots of footage of teabaggers pretending to die (TPM) for their freedom to protect the health insurance industry and the drug companies.

 Teabaggers to Stage Die In

From the same TPM article:

“We know it’s a sacrifice to do this right before Christmas,” Meckler writes. “But throughout history American Patriots have made far greater sacrifices than this to protect our liberty. Now the burden (and the honor) falls on us.”

Big freaking sacrifice!

Why is it that these people always talk like a low budget history Channel reenactment? I thought it was us Brits that were meant to be the pompous ones. It also completely beats me how impeding Senators from passing health care reform, helps their fight for this undefined freedom thing that they are always banging on about.. As to why they put there efforts into supporting the health insurance industry and the anti competitive legislation that underpins it, that is anyone’s guess.

Climate Change – Copenhagen Day 1

The Copenhagen Climate summit starts today

and runs through to the 18th. I will be using the UK Guardian as my main source of information. This news organization has an extremely solid record on all things environmental and were largely responsible for driving the significance of the greenhouse effect and global warming to a UK and international audience. This is the link to their portal page – the depth of coverage when compared to the networks and dead tree media here is staggering – go have a look.

This is probably the best piece I’ve read regarding the push back against the criminal and the stupid otherwise known as the climate change deniers

 Climate Change Copenhagen Day 1

Unlike my brief posts: here and here this piece provides a great overall summary with lots of genuinely useful supporting links.
